Screen & Coat

The one-day refresh, for when the wood underneath is still good.

Not every dull floor needs a full sand. If the finish is scuffed but wear has not reached the wood beneath it, we abrade the surface lightly — screening — and roll on a fresh coat. The floor comes back for a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the disruption.

The honest catch: a screen and coat only works while the finish layer is still intact. Once wear has gone through to bare wood, or a board has greyed from water, recoating locks the damage in instead of removing it. We tell you which one you are looking at during the estimate — including when the cheaper option is the right one.
