Engineered Wood

Real wood on a stable core — the answer for slabs and basements.

Engineered flooring is a real hardwood wear layer bonded to a cross-laminated core. That core is what keeps the board from cupping and gapping when Colorado swings from a humid July to a January that pulls every bit of moisture out of the air.

It is the only wood we will lay directly over a concrete slab or in a finished basement, and it is what radiant heat systems are built for. Wear layers vary enormously between products — a thick one can be sanded and refinished later, a thin one never can — so we walk you through what you are actually buying.

Best for

Basements, concrete slabs, radiant heat, and homes with big seasonal humidity swings.
